Pushing it out?

So Emily’s out. Can’t be bothered to go into it here, but there’s a rather excellent post about it on this blog.
There’s also a very interesting debate on the Digital Spy forums about the term “YOU N*****” – the fact she said “you” instead of “my” or just n***** making it into some sort of snobbish remark instead of an equality thing… I personally think she was probably trying to reach Charley on (what she thought was) her level and ended up looking like a naive and silly little girl. But she should have apologised, not just made out it was a joke. Glad she’s out. She bores me – plus it leaves us with more comedy Shabnam moments, yay!

Wasn’t it an example of an excruciating Nathan Barley-style attempt to be ‘street’ from a silly posh girl, rather than a racist insult?

Yes, totally, anon. I don’t beleive she was intentionally being racist. Having seen the footage last night, it seems that what slipped out was a comment she usually uses among her friends at home in Bristol (ironically the centre of the British slave trade).
But for me, it was her lack of remorse and her total refusal to acknowledge that she had shocked and hurt her housemates. Whatever Charley might say, she was obviously hurt and surprised by the remark and I think it was right for BB to remove Emily. Firstly because it would have caused further friction between the pair as the weeks went on and also because when Emily was finally evicted, the drama would have escalated outside and she’d have a very difficult time. For the sake of Emily, I think they did the right thing.
