"I’ll just be on my own at home… maybe be ill…"

May 22, 2006

Shebaz, Shebaz, Shebaz… Dear me. Don’t think a housemate has been this hated since Nasty Nick back in BB1! But then there’s just so much to detest. The constant perving over young men (which, sorry to be a boring serious person for a bit, but amounts to sexual assault really – especially since Glyn asked him to stop!), the talking to the camera with rehearsed speaches, the me me me, the crying, the clinging, the not listening to ANYONE and interrupting them (sometimes just to tell them that he’s listening!), the power trips, the embarassing flirting with Richard, the clothing…

But he’s actually doing a lot to cement the rest of the team. Together they hate him, but if (when) he goes, I’m sure they’ll find someone else to pick on. Possible Dawn. Because she smells.

And Pete is still lovely.

All this crap about BB exploiting him – no one forced him to audition, he’s not stupid; he knows what it’s all about. Pete is probably the most normal person in that house, and BB isn’t exploiting him anymore than they’ve exploited gay people, transexuals, black people, Welsh people… Nuns…! At the end of the day, that what BB is – an exercise in people watching.

But it does invite the nation to laugh at a Tourette’s sufferer, doesn’t it?

    What’s the next step?

    “Ooh, aren’t multiple amputees hilarious!”

“Look at that person with the premature ageing condition’s funny goggle eyes!”

    It’s essentially a modern day carnival freakshow…

I disagree – who said anything about the public ‘laughing’ at him? Whatever Big Brother’s motives, maybe it’ll be a positive step in showing society that a condition like tourettes doesn’t make you any less of a person.
